While there are certainly enough issues to go around, here are some urgent ones we're highlighting today. Please
call your representatives in Congress and the Senate!!
Protect our libraries!
The
executive action to abolishment the Institute of Museums and Library Services
is destroying the most beloved and trusted of American institutions and the services they offer:
- Early literacy development and grade-level reading programs
- Summer reading programs for kids
- High-speed internet access
- Employment assistance for job seekers
- Braille and talking books for people with visual impairments
- Homework and research resources for students and faculty
- Veterans’ telehealth spaces equipped with technology and staff support
- STEM programs, simulation equipment and training for workforce development
- Small business support for budding entrepreneurs
Protect the Department of Education!
This dismantling of the Department of Education is a direct attack on students, teachers, and familys--
a move that only benefits right-wing extremists who seek to privatize education. Voice your opposition to
H.R. 899 which would:
- slash federal funding for public schools
- eliminate support for students with disabilities
- end enforcement of civil rights protections in education
- abolish federal student loan and workforce development programs
Protect and support our independent news sources!
Voice of America delivered independent news targeting non-Americans outside the US, especially those living in countries without press freedom or independent journalism. Trump shut it down. Congress funds it.
Call your Representatives and Senators to reinstate VOA and continue to fund independent journalism!
"The experience of democracy is like the experience of life itself—always changing, infinite in its variety, sometimes turbulent and all the more valuable for having been tested in adversity."
-- Jimmy Carter
